Former parliamentarians

ParlAmericas hosted a parliamentary meeting in Saint Lucia in 2016, titled Gender-based Political Harassment: Building Awareness in Parliaments, that featured a panel comprised entirely of former parliamentarians: Ms. Jeannine Compton-Antoine (Saint Lucia), Honourable Jean Augustine (Canada), Dr. Rosemarie Husbands-Mathurin (Saint Lucia), and Dame Billie Miller (Barbados). Each shared their perspectives on obstacles to gender equality within parliaments and the strategies they had personally employed to try to overcome these. Their advice, which participants commented was both practical and inspirational, is summarised in the meeting’s report.
